One area of our practice involves representing juvenile offenders, and parents often question as to whether or not their son or daughter is going to be held at the Rhode Island training school. Usually, if a person is a first time offender, they are not going to spend time at the training school, however if a person under the age of 18 has been charged with a capital offense, there is a chance in Rhode Island that that person may be waved out of family court jurisdiction and tried as an adult in superior court or have that case moved from family court to superior court after a hearing.
