Criminal Defense Law – What should I know about cell phone violations in Rhode Island?

11.03.12-sunglasses-drivingWhen I speak to clients in respect to cell phone violations, it’s usually regarding texting.  It is very important to explain to the motorist that when we talk about text messaging violations, it is looking down at the phone, even at a complete stop, it is any type of activity that you are looking at the phone itself.  I always tell my clients that the best option is hands-free.

Right now, the police are writing a lot of tickets for text messaging.  The courts are looking at it hard because it is a distraction on the roadway and ultimately what I’m worried about with my clients is that there could be a loss of license involved.
